MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, AND HEALTH
This module focuses on the developmental foundations of mathematical learning, scientific concepts, and health-related topics for PreK-4 students. There are three objectives in this module, each covering essential areas of knowledge and skills:
Objective 12: Understand the developmental foundations of mathematical learning and problem solving, and assessment, instruction, and intervention.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how mathematics affects children’s development and learning.
- Understand strategies for implementing effective mathematics instruction.
- Apply assessment knowledge for planning and modifying instruction.
- Grasp the importance of mathematical communication, problem-solving, and connections among mathematical ideas.

Objective 13: Understand the foundations of scientific learning; fundamental concepts and processes related to the sciences; and assessment, instruction, and intervention.

- Understand criteria for selecting appropriate teaching materials and activities.
- Implement effective instruction in motor development and health.
- Apply assessment strategies for motor development and health.
- Grasp principles of physical fitness, safety, and healthy choices.
